Civil Engineering is a oldest and professional engineering discipline that deals with the design,construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment including works like bridges,roads,canals,dams and buildings.It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geo-technical engineering,structural engineering,transportation engineering municipal or urban engineering, material engineering, coastal engineering, surveying and construction engineering.
Duration - 4 years
Eligibility
- 10+2 Pass (PCM group/PCB- physics,chemistry & maths / biology)
- Diploma in Civil Engineering (Direct 2nd year Entry)
- Entrance Exams: JEE (for IIT, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and SFTIs), BITSAT (for BITS)etc
- An examination is also conducted by the Associate Membership of the institute of Engineers (AMIE),which enables working people in the public/private sector and diploma holders to acquire a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering through distance education .The degree awarded is considered to be equivalent to a regular B.E degree.
Average fees - 2.5 lacs to 6 lacs for 4 years - May vary with private autonomous Institutions.

Civil engineering is offered in both stream as B.E and B,Tech.One of the most commonly asked question by engineering aspirants is the difference between the two degrees.

Pay Scale
The salary depends on different factors like the size of the company you work in, the qualification you have, the experience, location of work, the size of the project, etc. The basic salary for a Civil Engineer graduate is 12 K to 30 K. The increase will be gradual as you get more experience and knowledge.
