Tips to write your Board Exams well

Hi Friends!

Today my post is specially for students who are going to write the board exams.

With less than two weeks left for the Board exams (class-12th,11th & 10 th), it is time for you to get ready to score good marks which going to reflect your 10 months of hard work.You must not only prepare well, but also to be perfect in presenting the answer well.




Here are some of the essential tips which will help you to prepare and attempt your exams in the best possible way.


1.Prioritize Questions
The extra reading time of 15 minutes in the beginning plays an important role to attempt the whole question paper confidently.There is no need to write the answers in the same order as in question paper. Firstly, write those answers which you know very well.It can be advantageous to boost your confidence level high by attempting an answer perfectly and also helps to write remaining answers well.


2.Attempt all the questions
We know that there is no negative marking for wrong answers in the board exams. So don’t be afraid to answer the questions about which you are confused, as you have nothing to lose.Try to attempt all the questions in the paper because sometimes the examiner gives us mark for attempting and also helps the students who are below the mark of pass.



3.Select Question Wisely

Some questions in the paper are given choices. Before selecting it, give a careful reading to each question at least twice and then create a mental picture of what you have to write in each case. 

For example:
Q.What is Biotechnology? Explain its uses in agriculture.
                                       (or)
Q.(a).Suggest the immunization schedule for the baby for first 6 months.
(b).What are all the diseases that can be cured as per the schedule.

Student has to select any one of those choices. But due to haste and tension,they select a question which they knew less.To avoid this read them twice before choosing it.


4.Write Precise - Don't write everything you know
Students generally get panic and try to pour out whatever they know to make the answer look lengthy. This creates an average impression to the examiner.First read a question carefully and understand the sense of the question.Try to limit your answer to the requirement and avoid writing a whole paragraph explaining something that does not need.



For example: If in a science paper there is a question “Define Pollution”, then you are asked to write the definition of Pollution and not about its types,causes or effects which most of the students write in order to make their answer lengthier as they believe, ‘longer the answer scores more.’ But it is wrong one that the examiner only looks for the apt and valid answers, not the stories.And also waste of time by writing an unwanted explanation.


4.Write Neatly with space

  • Make sure  that you given proper space between words.
  • Don’t write more number of lines in single page, which irritates the examiner to read. Try to write the answers in points. 
  • Give subtitles wherever necessary.
  • Leave at least two lines before and after each question. Doing this will also help you later, when you want to add something to your answer. 
  • Don't scribble anything in your answer sheet.


5.Don’t decorate the answer sheet
It is well observed among many students that they have a habit of attempting their question paper in a colourful manner by using blue, green and black coloured pointers or markers for headings and underlining each one of them.If you write a quality answer then there is no need to use of different colours. Doing this decorative work is not going to gain you any extra marks but will definitely take away your precious time of writing.

Use only two pens; a blue pen for writing the text and black for headings. While drawing diagrams, you must always use a pencil. It would keep your answer sheet simple and would give you time to write more as well.



6.Don't be afraid
It is  not always obvious for you to know everything in the question paper. There may be some questions which you find beyond your knowledge. At such times, don’t panic or be afraid. Because this can affect your brain badly making it blank and unable to attend other questions too.


Think wise,be calm and focused. Have trust on you to attend the exam well.


7.Revise your Answer Sheet
Once you have done with all the questions don’t forget to check your answer sheet for twice .Usually the question papers are set in such a way that even after attempting all the questions, students should be left with 5-10 minutes in the end to revise their answers. Check what you have written.Check for the silly mistakes like spelling,title of the diagrams and also the question number,number of questions attended,roll number,page number almost everything in your answer sheet before submission.


Try to follow these tips properly to do your exams well and to score high marks.

After a long gap, I am posting again! yeah I strucked up into some presentation works in Schools and other personal issues for a month...Today I am going to list you about the course categories of Medicine.

Medicine

Medicine is the science and practice of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.It is one of the best, reputed and respected professional fields in the world.

When we talk about Medical, an image of an MBBS rises in our mind.
Isn't it? But,there are various courses other than MBBS were available in the medical field.It offers Certificate courses,Diploma courses, Bachelor degree courses, Master degree courses and many short time knowledge booster courses for medical professionals.



Course Categories-Overview
There are 8 major groups of Degrees in Medical Science.

  • M.B.B.S.(Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)-Duration-5.5Years.
  • B.H.M.S.(Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery)-5.5 Years.
  • B.A.M.S.(Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery-5.5 Years.
  • B.S.M.S.(Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery)-5.5 Years.
  • B.U.M.S.(Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery)-5.5 Years.
  • B.N.Y.S.(Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Science)-5.5 Years.
  • B.D.S.(Bachelor of Dental Surgery)-4 Years.
  • B.V.Sc.(Bachelor of Veterinary Science)-5.5Years.

There are two basic categories in Medical Field- Medicine and Surgery.

Medicine-It is the practice of non-operative medicine.Most specialties in this area require preliminary training in Internal Medicine.

There are several subdisciplines of Internal Medicine.Some of these are

  • Geriatrics(old people healthcare)

Practitioners of such specialities are referred to as Physician.

Surgery- It is the practice of operative medicine. Most sub-specialities in this area require preliminary training in General Surgery.A Surgeon decides when an operation is necessary and also treat many non-surgical cases,especially those in the surgical Intensive Care Unit(ICU) where issues of critical nature arise.

Admission

The candidates from Biology group in their +2 can appear in entrance exam for admission to the medical colleges of the country.

NEET(National Eligibility Entrance Test) is the only national level medical entrance test after 12th. Some universities like AIIMS & JIPMER conduct their own entrance examination.


Scope

Healthcare is the largest  industry showing the highest range of continuous growth always,due to the aging population and advancements of new diseases with curable Medicines.There are great  opportunities for  medical professionals to gain in terms of remuneration, research and working.But one thing have to keep in mind is that the Field of Medicine is a "Noble Profession"So be honest  and truthful to your service.

OVERVIEW

Human Genetics Unit offers a diverse range of research in genetics bound by the common thread of biomedical applications. As part of the Human Genetics unit, researchers will work amongst the very best scientists to produce original and distinctive globally leading research in oral and dental disease. The research areas fall into the categories from Microbial genetics to Human Genetics including genetics of microbial pathogens of human, mutation biology, cancer genetics, and the most recent genomics approaches related to dentistry. The candidate will be trained to fabricate their independent research outcome in atleast 3 International Journals with an impact factor greater than 2 before completing their PhD program. The Ph.D. Program in Human Genetics will enable Bharath University to become a key player in this explosion of knowledge, both nationally and internationally, by attracting and training the vibrant research scholars.

QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION AS SUPERVISOR
  • Degree (PhD) in Genetics, awarded by the University of Madras in November 2006.
  • Research record in the form of 13 International Publications
  • Postdoctoral experience in Overseas (USA and Malaysia) and in India, and few teaching experience too.

PROGRAMME DETAILS
Students will pursue their PhD training for the first 2 years. During this time, they will complete the required methodology exam, PhD major work completion, submission of their synopsis will complete their PhD training. Journal club and seminar series will be scheduled every month. The final 3rd year will be offered to produce research publications, thesis drafting and completion in this course program.

Number of Candidates intake per annum - 5

Duration: Full Time - Minimum period of three years, Part Time - Minimum period of
four years.

Eligibility : Candidates with Masters Degree in the Faculties, including Biotech/Zoology/Genetics/ Dentistry/ Medicine/Pharmacy/ Nursing/ Allied Health Sciences/ Biomedical Sciences & Technology/ Physiotherapy.They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and who qualified in the GATE / JEST or UGC -/ CSIR - NET-JRF/ / ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF/ INSPIRE-JRF will be an added advantage. No student shall be eligible for admission to the PhD Degree Course unless she/he has successfully completed a postgraduate degree 
through an examination conducted by a University/Autonomous College.

B.E/B.Tech Biotechnology is an under-graduate engineering program.It is said to be a combination of both biology and technology and its application over day today life.

Duration - 4 years

Eligibility
  • 10+2 Pass (PCM group/PCB- physics,chemistry & maths / biology)
  • Diploma in Biotechnology Engineering (Direct 2nd year Entry) 
  • Entrance Exams: JEE (for IIT, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and SFTIs), BITSAT (for BITS)etc

What is B.E/B.Tech Biotechnology about?


Biotechnology is a highly interdisciplinary field that combines biological sciences with engineering technologies to manipulate living organisms and biological systems to produce products that useful to  advances health care, medicine, agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals and environment control. Biotechnology can be classified into two broad categories: R&D (research and development)in Biological Sciences and Industrial Processes.

  • The aspect of biological sciences deals with research and development in areas such as Microbiology, Cell biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology etc. for understanding the occurrence and treatment of diseases, development of agriculture, food production, protection of the environment and many more. Difference between B.Sc Biotechnology and B.E/B.Tech Biotechnology

A course very similar to this Engineering biotechnology branch is B.Sc. Biotechnology. The basic difference is the B.Tech/B.E Degrees are based on the knowledge of biology with more practical and  technological aspect of the programme and the duration of the course is 4 years. On other hand, B.Sc degree will concentrate mainly on broad aspects of theory and the duration of the course is 3 years.

Of these two courses a B.E/B.Tech Biotechnology is better since it has professional and technical aspects of knowledge whereas, B.Sc Biotechnology is more general in content and you will need to follow it up with some post graduate qualifications in the area of your interests and strengths to build a successful career.

Tips to improve your Reading skill-UNESCO shocking report

Today, I am going to give you some tips to improve your Reading Skills.But before that I want to share a shocking report published by UNESCO,which is significant to current situation(I had seen this in Thandhi news channel on Nov 1st).

UNESCO conducted a survey on Educational Responsibility and Challenges globally,the result of the survey gives that nearly 2.80 crores of children in India were discontinuing their studies due to many reasons.In that result, they stated that
  • 1.10 crores of children discontinued their higher education in Schools. 
  • 4.70 crores of children discontinued their secondary education in Schools. 
  • And also 26.60 crores of youths were unable to read and write properly.

Due to the influence of the shocking report I wanted to do this post on Reading skills.

Lets coming to our topic-

Reading- It is essential for one's success in every field. Reading is fundamental process to function active in today's world.In our society, there are many adults who cannot read well enough to understand the instructions on a medicine bottle or any food packets.That is one of a major problem,that they going to face in many situations.Like, filling out applications for anything,difficult to read road warning signs and address of a place,even following a map to reach destination itself becomes a tough task. Due to this, so many day-to-day activities will end up in frustration, anger,sad and fear at sometime.



Why Reading is important?

  • Reading is important because it develops the mind. The mind is like a muscle so it needs regular exercise to remain healthy.Reading also helps us to learn to listen. Everybody wants to talk, but few can really listen. Lack of listening skills can result in major misunderstandings which can lead to job loss, marriage breakup, and other disasters - small and great. Reading helps to focus on what someone else is communicating. 
  • Reading discover new thoughts and knowledge. Books, magazines and even the Internet are great learning tools which require the ability to read and understand what is read. 
  • It develops the imagination. With reading, a person can go anywhere in the world...or even out of it! They can be a king, or an adventurer, or a princess, or anything.The possibilities are endless. Non-readers never experience these joys to the same extent. 
  • Reading develops the creativity in people. When reading to others, stop every once in a while and ask them what they think is going to happen next. Get them thinking about the story. When it is finished, ask if they could think of a better ending or anything that would have improved their thinking skill. 
Finally, Reading is important because spoken and written are the building blocks of life to move on .

Here are some 12 tips to improve your Reading skill soon.

1.Always make special time to read-Making time for your reading will let you focus well without any interruption. Provide the best conditions for reading. Choose a place where you’ll have few interruptions, have good lighting, can sit in a good chair, and won’t be distracted by radio, TV or other noises.

2.Use your eyes efficiently-If words are blurry, get your eyes checked by a professional. Hold the book about fifteen inches away (about the distance from your elbow to your wrist).

3.Choose the right books to read-Choice of your interest is important to read.But don't stick with same kind,explore many new thoughts.

4.Scan before you read-Look at the table of contents, index, topic headers, photo captions, etc. These will help you determine if, a) you have a real interest in this reading, and b) what information you're likely to get from it.

5.Try to improve your Fluency-Fluency is how smoothly you can read with certain rhythm on words. Improving fluency can be as simple as choosing slightly easier texts to read, or it might take some time and practice.

6.Try to guess the meaning of any new words-When you come to a word you don’t know, try not to reach for the dictionary right away. Instead, try to guess the meaning of the word based on the other words around it.

7.Keep a dictionary near,when you read-If you come to any words that you can’t figure out, write them down and look up their meaning in a good dictionary. 

8.Take notes on your reading-If you want to read to understand something on a deeper level, like studying a textbook, Taking notes helps to read more actively. Keep a notebook out and make notes on important things you notice as you read.

9.Read out loud-This can improve your reading skills because it makes you be involved with the text in two ways: with your eyes, as you look at the words, and with your ears, as you listen to them. Reading out loud is also key if you’re trying to practice pronunciation.

10.Read it again-Sometimes reading a text just once is not enough to understand it. This is true if you’re reading something difficult, or even if you’re not reading clearly,Re-reading help you to understand it much better.

11.Read many kinds of text-Don’t just read books and news alone. Read anything and everything! Find a magazine that you enjoy, follow some interesting people or websites on Facebook, or visit a blog or browse something to read.

12.Track your progress-Keep records, like a list of books or articles you have gone through, and how many minutes you read each day. Seeing how much you have accomplished over time can encourage you to keep making progress.

Read as often as you can. You should try to spend at least 30 minutes every day on focused reading.It is important to improve yourself on any skill. The more you read, the more you will improve.

  1. For Certificate and Diploma Courses, result of school examination is enough.And also they can join in undergraduate course through lateral entry in second year of the course.
  2. Students applying for  undergraduate course like B.pharm should have atleast 50% of marks in 10+2 with physics, chemistry and mathematics or physics, chemistry and biology.
